Melbourne based Sam Lohs has been a lead member of the internationally acclaimed and fiercely independent outfit, Fruit, who have recently celebrated their 11 year anniversary as one of Australia’s most popular touring acts.
As a lead singer, guitarist and songwriter, Sam also performs solo and has recently released her highly anticipated (and very beautiful) second solo album, ‘We Trip Over Things’, a fine addition to her first release, the gutsy ‘6 degrees’.
Sam’s stunning song writing and delivery is poignant, hilarious and engaging and is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell &Ani DiFranco.
Sam and Fruit are strumming proof that you don't need a hit TV series or serious multinational dollars to succeed. Like fellow troubadours The Waifs, John Butler and Ani DiFranco, Adelaide-born Fruit have taken the road less travelled, covering millions of miles and playing thousands of shows since 1996, raising roofs and winning converts across 7 countries.
In 2003 Fruit won the "Best Live Album" trophy at the Australian Live Music Awards.

Beautiful, energetic & touching music from one third of the musical group Fruit. Sam impressed me with her vocal abilities which aren't always evident when she is with the group as a whole because the lead vocals are shared a great deal. I love seeing Fruit live and would like to see Sam solo and live as well.

Fruit received five stars, but the solo work from Sam, Susie and Mel each only four, because adding up their talents you get very strong music, you get FRUIT. Solo you only receive parts, but very tasty ones, listen to the tittle number 6, which is as great as is violetta. Sam keep on adding great music from down under to the rest of the world.
